Past Ooni of Ife
The sacred lineage of the Ooni dynasty — from Oduduwa to the present day
The Throne of
Oduduwa
The Ooni of Ife holds the most senior traditional title in all of Yorubaland. As the direct heir of Oduduwa — the progenitor of the Yoruba race — each Ooni bears the title “Arole Oduduwa” (Heir of Oduduwa) and serves as spiritual custodian of the entire Yoruba people worldwide.
Succession rotates among five ruling houses: Giesi, Osinkola, Lafogido, Ogboru, and Lisabi. His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, crowned 7 December 2015, is the 51st Ooni — and the youngest to ascend the throne in over 600 years.
His Imperial Majesty
The 51st Ooni of Ife continues the sacred line of Oduduwa. Crowned at age 41, he is the youngest Ooni in over 600 years — bringing a dynamic vision of cultural leadership, economic development, and Pan-African unity to one of the world's oldest thrones.
